For six seasons Carlos Rogers was a key in the Redskins secondary.

On Monday, he’ll try to stir the straw of media criticism against the Redskins with his new team.

Always a favorite in the locker room here in Ashburn (he won the Media Good Guy Award at one point too before leaving town) Rogers said the contest isn’t a revenge game. He’s not wired like that.

And what about those notorious hands of his?

More on the return of Mr. Rogers to his (old) neighborhood:

Per 49ers.com Rogers has remained in the same form that won him the admiration of D.C. media, deflecting any of the attention this week from him as an individual and more onto the team as a whole.

“I think it’s going to be the same,” Rogers said when asked if he will feel similar emotions this time around. “It’s still my old team, still some old players, old coaching staff, same ownership.

“But, like I told the guys, this isn’t about me; it’s about us – this team – trying to find a way to win no matter who we play.”

A general perception while Rogers was here were how ridiculously bad his hands were. He didn’t have one interception bound right off his hands. It might have been about 15. Or could could have been even more than that. I lost count.

Shoot he even talked to Matt Terl on a consistent basis about his hands and about how annoying it was dropping the easy ones and trying his hardest to improve them.

Fast forward four years and Rogers has eight interceptions in three seasons–the same amount during his tenure here. And his third season isn’t even complete. Darn.

Fellow uproot Dave Feldman watched all the drops, bobbles and helmet slaps in frustration while working for FOX-5 but since moving to Cali has seen none of that.

“He’s playing okay,” Feldman said. “He had a really good season a year ago. Here’s the thing, when he came out here he learned to catch. So he doesn’t drop balls as much. He’s been beaten a couple of times, but he’s play very well.”
